Something's gone wrong. Maybe it was a little parasite, wiggling under your skin. Maybe something bit you that one night in the woods. Maybe someone decided they didn't like you and placed a curse on you, or maybe the local psychotic AI decided she liked you and filled you full of nanites. In any case, you're changing, body and soul. There's no way to stop it. No way to reverse it. And above all, it's the most painful thing you've ever experienced...

HOW IT WORKS:
- Tag the meme, leaving your character name, fandom, and any preferences in the subject line
- Other character tags you
- You tag back, and use the random number generator to select from the following options. Or don't, and do whatever strikes your fancy. If you roll something your character already is, either roll again, go for human, or pick something that otherwise suits your fancy.
- Other character reacts, or is free to also roll on the table
- Play out the results.
- Have fun, but respect the preferences of others.

1. Water-dwelling. You're growing gills, or your skin is turning translucent, or you're sprouting fins, or maybe you're outright turning into some form of sea life. It doesn't matter what you're turning into – what does matter is that you're slowly losing the ability to breathe air, and there's no water in sight...

2. Animal. Something bit you, and you're turning into an animal. Your bones lengthen or perhaps shrink, break, twist, and reform, your teeth lengthen or shorten, and above all, you feel your instincts being overridden. Your senses sharpen; you notice smells you never did before, your vision becomes more sensitive to movement. If you're a predator? Man, these people look mighty tasty. Prey? OHGOD, EVERYTHING IS TERRIFYING. Lizard? Enjoy your new inability to regulate body temperature. Bird? Have fun with the whole beak and hollowing bones. And don't even get us started on insects and arachnids...

3. Parasitic Something's inside you, and it's changing you from within, chewing up your insides and altering your thoughts. You're not sure how much longer you're going to be you, and when the parasite's going to take over completely...

4. Demonic You've been meddling with dark powers beyond the ken of mortal man, and it seems you've accidentally sold your soul. Will you be the traditional kind of demon, horns and hooves, or something far more terrifying and ineffable?

5. Undead: No doubt about it, you're dying, but as you are, something's been altered in you. Maybe you're becoming a vampire – and not the fun kind, either, we're talking ugly, ravenous, and mad. Maybe you're a zombie, or a ghoul, and human flesh looks mighty tasty. Or maybe you're just turning into a ghost bent on vengeance. In any case, death is never fun.

6. Cybernetic Get captured by the Borg? Strapped to an operating table? Injected with nanites? Whatever happened to you, you're slowly turning into something half man, half machine, your squishy bits being replaced by mechanical components.

7. Lovecraftian You've heard their song, the terrors from beyond the stars, and even now they sing in your blood as your flesh transmutes into something ineffable and unknowable. You revel in the pain you feel even as you seek to spread it, to herald the end of all things... or maybe worse, you're aware of the transition as your mind becomes not your own.

8. Fusion/Hivemind You begin to fuse with the first person who tagged you – physically, mentally, or both. Soon, you can't tell who is who, which one of you is the real you, as your thoughts become one. Join in the fleshsong, mortal...

9. Inanimate Your body slowly petrifies and hardens, turning to stone, wood, glass, or something stranger still; or perhaps you liquefy, turning to some kind of liquid, or maybe you dissolve into the air itself.

10. Wildcard / pick your own Pick whatever you like, combine a few options, or make up your own.

[He holds the mirror at arm's length, as if this will make it easier for him to try and explain himself.]

[Seriously? Is he joking?? Is he fucking with him?? But no, this is Karamatsu after all, and everything about his expression is dead serious. Not to mention that Ichimatsu can't think of a single scenario in which his brother would look this upset to see his own face...]

[Nope, nope, nonononononononono he can't deal with this. He can't. He's a fucking mirror and he's already turning into reflections instead of himself and what, was his entire life already being a giant identity crisis really not enough??

Welcome to mirror!Ichi bluescreening, Karamatsu. By which we mean he withdraws so hard that the image in the mirror blanks out entirely... then begins reflecting just like any other perfectly ordinary mirror in the entire world.

Be careful what you wish for, huh?]

...Eh?

[And just like that...his brother is gone.

Karamatsu blinks, gripping the mirror tighter, bringing the glass closer to his face. His reflection.]

Eh? ...I..Ichimatsu?

[Silence. It's...just his own reflection, truly looking back at him and responding just as any old mirror might. His grip gets even tighter in an effort to keep his hands from shaking.]

A-are you still mimicking me? Because it...it's very good, but you can stop...

....Brother?

[Silence. Absolute silence. Ichimatsu was already a bit too good at withdrawing and quietly having panic attacks on his own, but now that he's an inanimate object, it's maybe a little too easy.

...On the other hand, with Karamatsu gripping his mirror form and simply trying so hard, that mental connection that Ichimatsu had been speaking through hasn't quite closed entirely. As if Kara managed to get just one toe in the door before it slammed completely shut. If he focuses, he might feel a trickle of that wave of anguish and panic coming from Ichi...]

[As focused on the mirror as he is, it's impossible for Karamatsu not to feel it...and it strikes him deeply, causing him to sit back more heavily on the floor, swallowing a few times while he tries to find his voice again.]

Brother...can you hear me? It's going to be alright, I promise! I won't allow you to remain this way forever!! You have to come back!

[He can't come back, not in this state, not with panic flooding his mind and a looming fear that if he does he'll just... just be his brother's reflection, and little more. He can't do it, he can't, he won't risk being reduced to it... but Karamatsu's words, barely audible to him over the mental static, still weigh with a begrudging sort of comfort on his mind.

He gives Karamatsu a lot of shit for being so annoying, but of all of them, he can trust him to at least try, right?

There's no visible change to the mirror - except perhaps some brief static flickering across its surface - but that mental door creaks back open a tiny bit anyway.]

Hurry.

[He has no choice. There's literally shit-all he can do on his own like this; his entire self is in Karamatsu's hands. Literally. So the least he can ask of him is this.]

[Hurry. That one word injects adrenaline into Karamatsu's veins, icy and filled with the drive to do something. But what? All he knows is that he got the mirror from some merchant, and he's probably long gone by now...what had he said about this mirror? Something about it being able to reveal your true self...?

Karamatsu's expression tenses as he stares back at his reflection.]

Brother. If you can hear me...try not to think. You need to try and calm down. Just listen to the sound of my voice. I won't stop talking unless you want me to.

[He starts, trying to keep his speech even, steady, and unbroken.]

I might have an idea.

[Ichimatsu doesn't even care what the idea is, he just wants Karamatsu to do it already. To do something, anything that might help. There's no way he can deal with this right now, he wants to squeeze his eyes shut (but he doesn't have eyes) and everything to be back to normal when he opens them again.

And then to punch Kara in his stupid face for buying stupid mirrors from stupid mysterious traveling merchants and go find a cat to hug.]

This mirror...I think it is feeding off of your anxieties. The less you think of yourself, the less yourself you become. The easier it is to shift into something else, to avoid being your true self...

I feel as if the only way to reverse this is to embrace who you are, Ichimatsu.

[Which, obviously for Ichi...is like telling him to swallow nails.]

[Yeah, no shit. That's the dumbest thing he's ever heard, or maybe that's what he'd say if hearing it hadn't given him a chill.

But at least his image flickers back onto the mirror's surface, though it's a little unstable and staticky.]

The hell're you talking about, Shittymatsu? You want me to embrace being trash? Tch, stupid, I've already accepted that fate...

[Karamatsu shifts back a bit so he can rest against the side of the couch, still seated on the floor. He's probably going to be here a while, but that isn't the problem right now.]

No, that isn't what...

[He starts, his brows furrowing a little. It pains him, even now, to see just how much Ichimatsu loathes himself. Does he truly believe that he's no better than trash?]

It isn't just about accepting your flaws. You have to accept the good things about you, too. All of yourself, not just one aspect of it.

[Ichimatsu flinches a bit at that, averting his gaze. Ugh, of all his brothers, Karamatsu was the last one he wanted to have this conversation with. GOOD things about himself? He honestly can't think of a single thing.]

Ah, there isn't anything like that, though. It's too late, I'll just be like this forever.

Ichimatsu.

[Karamatsu stresses, his grip tightening on the mirror again in a way that Ichimatsu won't be able to help but feel.]

Please...can you just try? I feel responsible for this happening to you...and I'm not going to give up on you so easily.

[He's boiling inside, and there's a long, tense moment of (the appearance of) gritted teeth before he grumbles out a reply.]

[Seriously, who has this much kindness?? Shouldn't he be GLAD to see his most antagonistic brother stuck like this?? Karamatsu could cram him into the back of a closet and never have to hear "Shittymatsu" or threats of violence from him again! More to the point, who the hell feels responsible for something like this?? Ichimatsu brought it onto himself! Of course he deserves it! Even though it's terrifying!]

[Karamatsu actually flinches back a little at that, as if Ichimatsu reached out and slapped him across the face. His grip gets a little tighter, almost too little to really be noticable.]

...you're my brother. Why...why wouldn't I want you back?

...tch.

[This moron... how does he not... well, Ichimatsu isn't going to spell it out for him. He's not entirely convinced this isn't another stupid act to make Karamatsu look ~*~cool~*~ either. Well, he'll assume it is, because isn't that everything that comes out of this painful guy's mouth?]

Maybe I'm trash, but at least I'm not shit.

[He wants to shake him, tell him that's not it, but he doesn't. He can't push Ichimatsu into saying something he doesn't believe. It's up to him to come up with this on his own.]

That's a good start. And ah...what about your cats, mm? You care for them, don't you? And many of them would never have a thing to eat or someone to call a friend without you. You can't get more compassionate!

[That was supposed to be a jab at YOU, you idiot! Ichimatsu gives a frustrated grunt, pretending to be entirely disinterested as his image stands, shuffling further away with his back to Karamatsu and kicking at the "ground."

He's just friends with cats because he can't be friends with people. He only doesn't need to be friends with people because he has his brothers. There's nothing positive about that; it's just another loser NEET trait out of the six of them!]

Strays are fine on their own. They wouldn't die without me.

[While Karamatsu is disappointed that Ichimatsu walked away again, it's better than not being able to see him at all. He just has to keep his patience, he tells himself as he sits back a bit further against the front of the couch.]

Perhaps. But you provide them companionship. That's more important than anything.
